Chino Valley Turn & Burn Pylon Races 2026
(formerly the CVF T-28 Pylon Races)
(formerly the CVF T-28 Pylon Races)
Get ready for a day of fast turns, friendly competition, and plenty of fun at the Chino Valley Flyers’ annual Chino Valley Turn & Burn Pylon Races!
Pilots will compete in two exciting classes: the popular T-28 Trojan Class, where identical aircraft create close, skill-based racing, and the Unlimited Class, where just about anything capable of navigating the course is welcome. Each race consists of multiple rounds of ten-lap heats, giving every pilot several opportunities to improve their performance and move up the standings.
While trophies and prize money add to the excitement, the real purpose of the event is to sharpen flying skills, enjoy some spirited competition, and spend time with fellow R/C pilots. Success in pylon racing depends on smooth flying, consistent turns, accurate course management, and keeping your cool when several airplanes are sharing the same airspace at speed.
The event is designed for both experienced racers and pilots looking to try pylon racing for the first time. A practice session on the race course will be available before race day, and race results will be posted throughout the event so competitors can track their progress. And yes—there’s even a Most Spectacular Crash Award for the pilot who creates the most memorable moment of the day.
Most importantly, the Turn & Burn Pylon Races is about camaraderie, sportsmanship, and having fun.
Come race, learn, improve, and enjoy a great day at the field.

Aircraft Restrictions:
Flight Format: The T-28 Trojan class will fly first, followed by the Unlimited class. Each aircraft will fly one heat in each of four rounds for each class. Each heat will include a maximum of four airplanes. The number of heats in each round will be predicated on the number of pilots entered in the class. Heats use a “flying start” and consist of 10 laps. When both classes have completed four rounds, the judges will determine the scores and announce the winners.
Scoring: Between one and four points are awarded to each pilot who finishes a heat based on the order of the finish. Points will be posted during the day so pilots will know where they stand.
