Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I have to be a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics to join your club?

A: Yes, club members must have an AMA membership. AMA provides the liability insurance required to fly model aircraft at our field.

Q: Do you offer Flight Training for new members?

A: One of the benefits of membership in our club is free Flight Training for new members. We have flight instructors available.

Q: How much are the membership dues to join your club?

A: Dues are $100 annually, but new members are pro-rated based on the month they join. See our rates on the “Join Us” tab in this website.

Q: What are the hours of operation of the club?

A: Members have access to the club field 24/7. Most of the flying takes place early in the morning when the winds are calm. On calm wind days, flying may take place into the afternoon.

Q: Can I fly “drones” at the club field”

A: We have a dedicated rotorcraft flying area at the field. We do not mix rotorcraft with fixed wing aircraft in the flight pattern.

Q: Can I fly gliders at the club field?

A: Self-launching gliders are permitted at our club field. We do not have winch or hi-start facilities.

Q: Can I fly turbines at the club field?

A: Turbine operations require the pilot to have a turbine waiver from the AMA.
