Chino Valley Streamer Scramble 2026

R/C Combat is one of those wonderfully unhinged corners of aeromodeling that’s as much fun for spectators as it is for pilots. If you’re unfamiliar with R/C Combat, here’s the basic run down:

R/C Combat is essentially a bunch of model airplanes flying around in a confined space with crepe streamers being dragged behind the aircraft. It encourages the use of lightweight planes, streamer cutting instead of actual mid-air collisions (in theory), simple construction, and power systems tuned more for screaming RPM than longevity. The whole goal being: stay airborne, out-turn the other guy, and turn his streamer into confetti before yours becomes souvenirs.

…and that’s about all there is to it.

There are no classes, no rounds by experience level, and no pressure—just friends, flying, and good-natured aerial chaos. Whether you’re a seasoned pilot looking for something different or a newer flyer wanting to try combat in a low-stress environment, the Streamer Scramble is all about fun, laughter, and seeing what survives the round.

Bring an airplane you’re willing to risk, a sense of humor, and maybe a spare prop or two (or a spare airplane or two).

General Information

• • • Electric powered aircraft only with no restrictions on power system or airplane size or configuration..
    • All AMA & CVF Club Safety Rules will be enforced.
    • All pilots must have current AMA & FAA registration.
    • Pilots must be CVF members (but spotters need not).
    • Hard hats are required (and will be provided) for all pilots and spotters.

Schedule: The field will be open for practice until 8:00am. It will reopen when the pilot and safety meeting is complete.

• • • 7:00am – Pilot registration & aircraft Safety Inspection opens. Streamers will be issued during Registration. Runway will be open for practice and trim flights.
    • 8:00am – Pilot Meeting. All pilots & spotters must attend.
    • 8:15am – Safety inspection continues. All aircraft that will be flown during the event (including spare and replacement aircraft) must be inspected.
    • 8:30am – Practice & trim flying begin.
    • 9:00am – Official rounds begin.

Awards will be presented as soon as scores are totaled following the fourth round of flying.

Flight Format: This event is open to all electric-powered aircraft of any size and power system. Each pilot will fly in four 4-minute rounds using qualifying aircraft. Points are accumulated by pilot, not by aircraft so aircraft may be changed between rounds. Any aircraft that will be flown at any time during the event must be inspected by the Safety Officer during the pilot registration and before flying in any practice or official flight.

Scoring & Prizes: Points are awarded for streamer cuts, completing a round, landing on the runway after a round, and being on the losing end of a midair. Points will be tallied between rounds and the final winners will be announced at the end of the four official rounds of flying.

Prizes will be awarded for 1st through 3rd places.
